Cowan was perhaps most recognized for producing the Viktor Schreckengost-designed line of “Jazz Bowls,” originally made for Eleanor Roosevelt who commissioned the designer to create the perfectly elegant punch bowl.
Attractive matte yellow/orange glazed exterior with a glossy peacock blue interior.
Excellent, vintage condition.
Die-impressed Cowan hallmark present, as shown.

Superior quality and craftsmanship in an attractive palette of blues against a bronze/brown background finished with a bronze cap and bakelite socket. Excellent, vintage condition.
Branded with the workshop stamp and incised with the ‘axe’ cypher.
Shade is not original to the lamp and not included (for demonstration only).

Hand Painted Italian Ceramic Pitcher by Marco Prinzi for La Musa
Vintage (circa 1970s, Italy) La Musa pitcher depicting a traditional Sicilian village scene. Originally founded by Marco Prinzi in 1953, Ceramiche La Musa remains a notable manufacturer of quality ceramics for home use.
This piece’s aesthetic was heavily influenced by Prinzi’s contemporary, Giovanni De Simone. Both drew influence from the cubist style of Pablo Picasso.
Nice piece of Sicilian folk art (in its simplicity, inaccuracy and crudeness of subject) contrasted by a modernist blend of vibrant colors.
