Pair of Ernest Race Flamingo Lounge Chairs and Ottoman
This rare set of ‘Flamingo’ lounge chairs was designed in 1959 by the English designer, Ernest Race. The same year the chair was introduced, it was granted the ‘design of the year award’ by the Council of Industrial Design.
Both chairs and ottoman had been recovered in a sand beige wool upholstery, and the foam has been replaced. The chair seats are supported by walnut legs with original large plastic glides.
The pair comes with the scarcely seen Race ottoman which is composed of an upholstered seat over a black enameled steel frame. The finish is original as are the support straps.
Light wear to the ottoman frame, as shown.
Chairs each measure:
Height: 36.25″
Width: 32.75″
Depth: 31.5″
