$95.00Whimsical porcelain elephant piggy bank by Carlton Ware of England (circa 1969-early 1970s). Carlton Ware made a range of ‘money boxes’ with colorful, psychedelic prints on the side. This elephant example has a colorful floral design on both sides. Labeled and branded ‘Carlton Ware Made in England Trade Mark.’
Does not include a stopper.

Mid-20th Century Mythological Terracotta “Medusa” Ceramic Sculpture
$800.00Sculpture depicting a female, armless figure lying on her side, circa 1960s-1970s. Unsure of the subject, but the style and details of the hair suggest this could depict Medusa. Impressive, dense piece measuring: H 10.75″ x D 6.75″ x L 16″
Unsigned but executed by a skilled ceramicist, given the detail and complex composition.
Patina / light wear present consistent with age and one thin hairline crack to the back post-firing in the kiln, as shown.
Mid-Century American Modern Ribbed Studio Pottery Planter Vase by Deanna Nichols
$450.00Impressive ceramic planter/vase by ceramicist, Deanna Nichols (b. 1942-2017, Missouri).
Holding a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute (1965) and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California (1967), Nichols was educated in painting and complex pottery making techniques at an academic level and later served as an educator at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, and The Chrysler Museum School in Norfolk, VA.
The second floor of the new student center at Kansas City Art Institute is named for Nichols (see image).
1970s studio piece (works made between 1971-79 were stamped “Nichols Ferenbach”) composed of a polychromed/color blended ribbed vessel with protruding edge featuring incised interlocking wave motif. Beautiful piece showcasing an attractive multi-layer color scheme.
