SmilowThielle
Midcentury American Modern Walnut Highboy / Chest of Drawers by Mel Smilow
Walnut 4-drawer chest designed in the 1950s by Mel Smilow for Smilow-Thielle. Walnut drawers are outlined by ebonized borders (the ‘frames’ of only the drawers themselves are ebonized, which better reveals the exquisite grain and color of the walnut by contrast). Inset tapered legs are built into the frame and strategically placed slightly inward to better support the chest / offer stability. Nice, refinished condition, only minor wear remains.
Retains the Smilow-Thielle label in the top drawer.
