Early ‘Grasshopper’ Chair by Eero Saarinen for Knoll Associates
Eero Saarinen’s iconic ‘Grasshopper’ chair designed for Knoll Associates. Early example (circa late 1940s), as indicated by the early ‘Knoll Associates’ decal. Composed of bentwood arms / legs in laminated birch plywood which support the upholstered seat / back. Birch is in original condition, and shows only slight wear (minor nicks / light general wear). Seat has been reupholstered in a light grey tweed upholstery and foam has been replaced.
Incredible lines and curvaceous form, this lounge chair is a conversation piece that shows well from all angles.

Finn Juhl Teak Lounge Chairs Model FD-136 for France & Daverkosen
$16,500.00Pair of 1950s Danish modern lounge chairs (model FD 136) designed by Finn Juhl. Early examples produced by France & Daverkosen, the predecessor to France & Son.
Boasts broad, floating back rests, wide seats, and elegantly sculpted teak arm rests. All patinated brass hardware (pegs which connect the seat and back to the teak frame) is original. Efficient design maximizing comfort while maintaining a relatively small footprint.
Navy wool upholstery is original and has been cleaned. Very nice, vintage condition with only minor wear to the original fabric.
Back stretchers retain the France & Daverkosen “FD Made in Denmark” stamp and the “John Stuart Inc. New York / Grand Rapids” medallions (signifying the original retailer).

Italian Modernist “Perla” Armchair in Bouclé by Giulia Veronesi for ISA Bergamo
$7,200.00Single iconic ‘Perla’ club/armchair by Giulia Veronesi for ISA Bergamo (early 1950s, Italy).
Composed of a gently curved back with exaggerated, outstretched arms (charmingly appears to be extending to give a hug) supported by Veronesi’s signature triangular ebonized walnut wedge feet.
Unique form with its low profile but spacious, accommodating seat, maximizing comfort without compromising style.
Newly reupholstered in an oatmeal Kravet bouclé (36114-106). The foam has additionally been replaced, and the feet retain the original ebonized finish, which shows minor wear consistent with age.

October 1952 Domus, Issue No. 274, page 4 – credited as G. Veronesi in the magazine, leading people to believe it was ‘Guglielmo,’ when in fact the designer of the Perla is Giulia Veronesi.

Mid-Century Italian Modern Tufted Mohair and Chrome Lounge Chairs
$6,400.00Luxurious pair of Mid-Century Modern arm chairs with polished chrome frames and tufted back and seat (reminiscent of the flat bar lounge chairs by Milo Baughman but an Italian design, as indicated by the label).
Elegant profile with sharp, slanted lines and a low-slung seat.
Recovered in a blood-orange or coral mohair with new foam (the last eight images most accurately relay the color, which is slightly more orange than pink).
Chrome, which has been cleaned and polished, shows wear (scuffs, as shown, particularly to the arm rests). Only really visible from certain angles – pair remains in good, vintage shape with wear consistent with age and use.
One chair retains the “Made in Italy” label; the other shows evidence of its prior presence.

Midcentury Walnut and Leather Lounge Chair and Ottoman by Mel Smilow
$7,500.00Scarcely seen wide, armless lounge chair designed by Mel Smilow for Smilow-Thielle in the 1950s. Includes the original, oversized ottoman, which can double as a coffee / wide side table (cushion is removable, straps snap into the underside of the frame). Solid walnut construction with newly upholstered Ralph Lauren leather cushions featuring button-tufted detail. Additionally, a Ralph Lauren brown suede lining has been fitted to cover the springs in order to protect the bottom of the cushion from scratches / scuffs. Sharp, sleek lines defined by the dramatically contoured legs and chair frame. The original steel straps and metal springs are sound. Walnut has been refinished; only minor wear remains.

Norwegian Modern Exposed Teak Lounge Chair with Original Upholstery
Mid-Century Modern arm chair with a continuous, exposed teak arm / back trim (Norway, ca. 1960s). Retains the original upholstery composed of a charcoal wool frame with a contrasting cushion in red, green, white, and oatmeal plaid. The foam and straps have been replaced. Frame has been refinished; only a couple of minor scuffs remain.
Relatively small in scale
(H: 31.25″ x D: 28.5″ x L: 27.5″ x Arm Height: 22″ x Seat Height: 17.5″) with crisp lines and elegant form.
Pair 1970s Wide Tentazione Club Chairs by Mario Bellini for Cassina
Pair of early 1970s Mario Bellini for Cassina “Tentazione” club chairs (Model #685) in original striped tweed upholstery with black circular disk ABS feet. Exemplifies the union of form and function. Stylish with sleek, shapely contours, yet exceedingly durable and comfortable. Very good, vintage condition; upholstery is very clean with no issues to note.
Retains the Atelier International / Cassina label (ai was the distributor / importer, marketer, and retailer, not the manufacturer).

Pair of 1950s Floating Walnut Lounge Chairs by Jens Risom
Jens Risom lounge chairs supported by walnut bases, circa 1953. They are relatively small in scale and boast clean, sharp lines. The frame’s gray wool upholstery is original, featuring a back button-tufted detail. The cushions have been recovered in a dark charcoal chenille (a shade darker than the frame to add an attractive two-tone contrast). Additionally, seat cushion foam has been replaced, and the walnut has been refinished.
Minor wear to the original upholstery; presents well and can be left as is.
