1930s Folk Art Carved and Hand-Painted Seal Sculpture

This circa 1930s small, hand-carved / hand-painted seal is simple in form and design but shows lovely detail, from the carved ball on its nose to the painted details of its face. Paint is all original, and the green of the base and red of the ball add nice pops of color to the dark brown and white seal itself. Nice folk art decorative object with good age. (Pen is used to illustrate scale.)
Light wear consistent with age and nice, natural patina. Overall, very good, vintage condition.

American Folk Art hand-carved and painted fish decoy with a fishing line in its mouth (ca. 1940s, USA). Natural patina, crazing, and paint loss present – the red base coat can be seen in spots where the white or black paint has peeled. Bjørn Wiinblad for Rosenthal porcelain wall plate circa 1970s Denmark. Figures’ outlines are lightly sketched but stand-out because they are framed with the contrasting orange, red, and green bird decoration. Gilded leaf and signature detail add another layer of color and texture to this minimal, yet ornate piece. Plate is equipped with two holes in the back to thread wire for wall-mounting. Branded: ‘Rosenthal Studio-linie Germany’ to the back.

Circa 1940s Folkart Woodsman / Lumberjack Whirligig

Whimsical whirligig depicting a woodsman sawing a log mounted to an ebony-stained wooden base. Hand-carved, painted, and assembled with applied facial details. When manually turned, the propeller activates the woodman’s ‘sawing’ motion. The green platform has a full 360 degree swiveling rotation capability.
All original paint and hardware. Fine, vintage condition showing wear commensurate with age and use (splits in in the propeller and woodsman’s platform with paint loss in places). Wear adds to the rustic charm of the piece, and, along with patina, serves as evidence of good age.

Early 20th Century Folk Art Hand Carved and Painted Barn Whirligig / Birdhouse

American Folk Art whirligig / birdhouse, crafted to resemble a barn and silo, circa 1920s. Appealing colors and hand painted details. Alternating wooden ‘hammers’ move in an upward and downward motion by manually moving the windmill (presumably, a naturally occurring motion when outdoors, activated by the wind). Paint shows wear (crazing, loss in places and scratches). There are some corner chips, as well, as shown. Remains a functional, beautifully crafted piece of Folk Art.
