Pair of Paul Mccobb Calvin Group Mahogany and Brass Nightstands for Directional

Composed of a stained mahogany frame with extendable lower shelf with nickel pull and brass trim supported by crisp, tapered legs and carved stretchers.
Sleek, modernist design with clean lines offering storage/accessibility conveniences like the two surfaces and sliding lower shelf to elevate the otherwise modest form.
Excellent, restored condition (wood has been refinished and metal has been polished). Only minimal wear remains.
Retains the brass manufacturer’s tag to underside: “Calvin Grand Rapids The Calvin Group Designed by Paul McCobb.”

Paul Mccobb Calvin Group Mahogany and Brass Five-Drawer Chest / Dresser
Paul Mccobb Calvin Group five-drawer chest (model 1003) manufactured by Directional Furniture (ca. early 1950s, USA).
Composed of a stained mahogany chest with brass tear-drop pulls supported by carved, tapered legs and brass ‘x’ stretchers. Mahogany grain has such vibrance that it appears to move as it is surveyed from different angles (what we call “action”).
The top two drawers are shallow, while the other three are more spacious.
Excellent, restored condition with only minor wear remaining.

Paul Mccobb Mahogany and Brass 6000 Series Directional Cabinet
1957 Paul McCobb designed Directional chest for Calvin in bleached mahogany and brass. Despite its relatively diminutive size (48″ long), the chest offers multiple storage compartments (four shallow top and six spacious lower drawers). Cabinet has been refinished to mirror the original ‘sand’ finish, and brass trim has been polished. Small chrome pulls for top drawers have been left untouched and show wear / tarnish, as does one of the brass ‘plates’ on which one of the lower mahogany drawer pulls is mounted. Overall, excellent, restored condition sans aforementioned minor wear.
