19th Century American Empire Mahogany Burl Parlor Table

American Empire parlor table, circa late 1800s. Surface is supported by a pedestal base with scroll feet. Impressive mahogany burl grain and rich tone. Conservative restoration was employed to even the wood tone. Moderate, age-commensurate wear remains (surface and base scuffs, veneer losses, spilts in the wood etc). Remains a sturdy, visually striking piece.

French Art Deco Sycamore and Mahogany Armoire by Dominique

$40,000.00

Art Deco armoire with sycamore veneer and mahogany interior with brass medallion/locking mechanism and hardware by André Domin and Marcel Genevrière for Maison Dominique (Paris, France, ca. 1930s). Impressive, museum-quality piece, refinished roughly a decade ago in Paris using the correct French Polishing technique of the creation period.
Heavy doors open to reveal eight removable (but non-adjustable) shelves supported by threaded brass brackets. The weight of the doors requires the unit to be wall mounted. There are holes original to the piece in the top back corners for this purpose.
There is veneer loss to the top back corner of the cabinet, which was previously repaired and cannot be seen at eye level, and a spot of veneer loss to bottom corner of one of the doors, along with light wear/nicks to the front and a couple of gashes and small holes to the inside of the doors (all relatively minor, given its age). Overall, very good vintage condition. Stamped signature present, as shown.
From the collection of a prominent French collector whose London flat was extensively photographed for publications, including House and Garden UK from which the last photograph in the listing was taken.
