Pair of sleek, modernist, petite bedside/table lamps by Gaetano Missaglia (ca. 1970, Italy).
Composed of brushed aluminum cylinders with chromed-metal insert diffusers. Known as “privacy lamps” given the ability to manually move the interior chrome inserts to fully or partially conceal the light.
Take E14 bulbs (we are using “E14 LED 3W Globe Light Bulbs – 30 Watt Equivalent – Cool White”).
Retain the original Italian plugs, which will be changed for US use, unless otherwise requested.
Very good, vintage condition with only light wear/scuffs, as shown.
Partial manufacturer’s label remains.

Pair of sleek, modernist bedside/tables lamps sourced from a hotel in Chianciano, Tuscany (ca. 1960s, Italy).
Composed of brushed aluminum cylindrical bases supporting blown opaline/milk glass shades.
Very good, vintage condition with minor wear to the aluminum, including what appears to be a pencil mark, as shown.
Original Italian sockets, wiring, and plugs accepting E27 bulbs (plugs will be changed for US use, unless otherwise requested). On/off switches will be added to each lamp’s cord.
We have another pair listed separately displaying soft white bulbs for demonstration on how well the glass shades distribute standard light.

Parker Elwood “Woody” Panttila (1924 – 2002, Brooklyn, NY USA) poodle living room vignette including a ceramic urn with sunflowers, a fuchsia drape backdrop and multi-colored rug.
Painted frame is also designed and handmade by the artist and serves as an extension of the paining itself in richly patinated / distressed brick red with antique white accents (Panttila was known for designing and hand-making his own frames that corresponded well with the art works).
Very fine, vintage condition with wear to the frame, as shown. Painting and glass front are sound.

Ralph de Burgos (b. Shanghai, China 1906 d. Washington DC, US 1979) mixed-media collage and oil abstract on paper, circa early 1960s. Burgos was known largely as a painter, with a leaning toward modernist landscape and still-life. This example is a departure from his standard style, incorporating collage (primarily newspaper clippings), oil paint, and marker. Education: National Academy of Design, the Art Students League, the School of Industrial Arts, and the Arthur Schweider School of Modern Painting.
Titles / Honors: Faculty at the Washington Workshop President of the Society of Washington Artists and of the American Art League Founder of two schools (de Burgos School of Art in Georgetown and de Burgos School of Art in Falls Church)
Works featured in the Capitol, various U.S. embassies, as well as a mural in St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Washington. He restored and refinished the portraits of 32 presidents of Georgetown University.
