Early Americana Painted Wood Monogrammed Trunk

$2,800.00

Primitive trunk / chest composed of a hinged wood plank top and painted wooden frame with brass and steel embellishments (brass nailheads with hand-hammered steel handles / hinges / locking mechanism, which is no longer operational) circa 18th century. Monogram believed to read “APJ” present to the front, though faint and difficult to decipher, as the chest was repainted at some point (“new” paint is estimated to be at least 100 years old).
Losses (both wood and brass nailheads), general wear, and unevenness to the painted surfaces present. Overall, fine, antique condition, intact and structurally sound.
Exceptional example of early Americana.
Measures: H 20.25″ x D: 19.5″ x W 37.75″.
