Vintage Japanese Adjustable World Globe Lamp

This Japanese gold-tone plastic world globe lamp was made by Universal Lamp Co in the 1960s. The top of the globe separates at the equator and opens to reveal an interior bulb. Upon further extension of the the top portion (which can swivel and tilt), a telescoping arm appears, allowing for full height adjustability. There is a smattering of world cities marked on the base with numbers 1-24 (the numbers represent the 24 hours in a day, but do not correspond to the cities below). There are two illumination settings on the lamp (high and low).

Remnant of original label remains on the underside: ‘Universal Lamp Company, Inc., Model U-6990, 117VOLT, 50 60 Cycle, 20WATT, 21CP 12VOLT AC, Replace with U-1141 or G.E. #1141 Lamp. Use of any other bulb may cause damage.’
