Vintage Hand-Carved Cedar ‘Lock’ / Trick Cigar Box / Decorative Box

Circa 1970s cedar hand-carved ‘trick’ box. Impressive, ornate carved-decorative center detail. Carved ‘locking’ mechanism present: when the lower bar is shifted over, the box opens. An ingenious feature allowing the box to lock / unlock without a the requirement of a physical key. There are two wooden dividers that can be removed if additional open storage is required. Perfect size for jewelry, cigar and small decorative item storage. Additionally, the cedar interior is ideal for humidor use, as cedar is not prone to warping, can repel tobacco beetles, and holds more moisture than most woods, allowing it to maintain humidity.
In the Anglo-Indian style but wood used suggests that this is an American piece.
