Frank Edwin Larson Abstract Oil and Gouache on Canvas

Woodstock, NY artist, Frank E. Larson (Frank Edwin Larson, American, 1895-1991) was most noted for his portrait of Mark Twain which is on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institute in DC. He was part of the esteemed Woodstock, NY art colony. This 1960s work, composed of watercolor and oil over gouache, is an abstract rich in color with nice texture and depth. Additionally, the browns and whites of the rustic frame, likely made by the artist, corresponds nicely with the colors of the painting itself.
