Bird Chair by Preben Fabricius and Jorgen Kastholm

This ‘Bird Chair’ was designed by Preben Fabricius & Jørgen Kastholm and manufactured by Walter Knoll, Germany. The unique form of this chair features clear contours and perfect lines with a swiveling base and three star aluminum foot. In 1969 the armchair was awarded the first federal style prize for ‘Gute Form’ (Good Shape) and became an icon of minimalism in design. This example, a later edition of the original 1960s design, maintains its original black leather, unmarked and in excellent condition. The ‘Walter Knoll’ label is intact on the underside. The base measures: D 30″. W 28.25″. The length (arm to arm) is: 26.25″. The seat depth is: 19″.
