1970s Arthur Imhof Royal Geographic Society Commemorative Swiss World Clock

Impressive 1979 Swiss Imhof Royal Geographical Society World / Mantle commemorative annular clock, part of a limited four year production from 1979-82.
This example is an early production, as indicated by the 1979 date on the brass plaque.
Painted black metal terrestrial globe with gold outlines of countries and corresponding hours housed in a brass casing with silver dial ring (cercle tournant) / annular chapter ring with both Roman and Arabic numerals with minute track and brass pointer. Hexagonal brass columns connect casing to ebonized-wood, platform base. Manually operational by turning the winding crown in the back. (In order to function as a ‘clock,’ movement will require professional removal and cleaning.) Presently offered as a unique curiosity / decorative item.
Movement itself was designed by Arthur Imhof (Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland).
Medallion on underside reads, ‘1979 Royal Geographical Society World Clock.’
Commemorative plaque on base reads, ‘1979 Royal Geographical Society World Clock Made for David J. Lewis.’
Original condition with nice patina. The globe itself is perfect, free of scratches or loss. The brass is unpolished and shows tarnish / wear. (Brass can be polished upon request, but we opted to show it in original condition.)
