Lovely example of Bjorn Wiinblad’s fantastical pieces for Rosenthal, featuring a corpulent figure among grapes welcoming a mythical character. Vibrant colors of lime green, blue, purple, and orange. Wiinblad explored the notion of good and evil, taking dark, often frightening subjects, and making them whimsical / comical by lightening expressions or revealing warm gestures, when the opposite is expected. This charger a great example of that style, with a smile on the figure’s face as she greets the ominous figure.
Signed ‘Bjorn Wiinblad ’73’ to the front of the dish and branded ‘Rosenthal’ to the back.
Few spots of fading to the design; overall, nice, vintage shape.
