Vintage Industrial Anco Bilt Cast Iron and Oak Drafting Table with Steel Surface
$1,600.00
Industrial drafting table/desk in oak with steel surface, fully adjustable via cast iron hinges, knobs, and brackets manufactured by Anco Bilt of Glendale, New York (ca. 1940s).
Surface can be easily lowered or raised between 33″ to 43.75″ high.
At some point, a stainless steel surface was fashioned over the wooden top and a ruler was added, serving not only a useful, accessible measuring tool but also to create a shallow ledge (1/8″) for a pencil making this piece as much of a work of Folk Art as it is a durable, utilitarian piece of furniture.
Steel surface shows dimpling, spotting, scuffing, and a couple of edge separations consistent with age and use, and oak base has been newly refinished, showing only minor wear. Remains, a highly functional piece in good, vintage condition with a naturally distressed surface.
Sourced in a century barn in Andover, MA.
