Vintage Aldo Londi for Bitossi Ceramic Rimini Blu Bird Commissioned by Merck
$350.00
Custom ceramic bowing bird sculpture designed by Aldo Londi for Bitossi (ca. 1960s, Italy).
The multinational pharmaceutical company, Merck, Sharp, and Dohme (known in the US as Merck and Co.) commissioned specific Bitossi pieces as promotional and executive gifts in the 1960s and 1970s . These custom pieces prominently display the company’s name.
In the case with this bird in the iconic ‘Rimini Blu’ glaze, the “Merck, Sharp, and Dohme” name is incised on one side, and the bird itself was a customized, special production (no exact bird was manufactured by Bitossi outside of this limited run).
Excellent, vintage condition with no cracks, chips, or crazing present.
