Set of Six Fornasetti Gilt Porcelain Profili Romani Roman Emperor Vide Poches

$1,400.00

Collection of six porcelain vide-poches/trinket dishes designed by Piero Fornasetti (ca. 1960s, Italy).
Four from the “Profili Roman” series depict lithographically decorated imagery/inscriptions on found on ancient provincial Roman coins featuring the profiles prominent Roman figures including Julius Caesar, Antinous (young lover of Emperor Hadrian), and Lucius Verus.
All six feature gilt — the two dishes without the lithographic details are decorated with a simple gilt exterior banding, while the Roman litho examples have interior gilt borders.
Very good, vintage condition with light wear consistent with age/use. One of the Roman dish’s gilt is matte (similar to the two blank dishes), while the other three are glossy.
The Roman dishes are marked “Profili Romani – Fornasetti Milano Made in Italy.”
The blank dishes are marked “Fornasetti Milano Made in Italy for Ronsenfeld Imports.”
