Large, rectangular tray by Couroc of Monterey, California custom-designed for Gump’s Department Store in San Francisco (circa 1960s). Lively depiction of the city of San Francisco with representative landmark images including a crab shack, cable-car, birds, the sun, a lamp-post, and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Composed of a black lacquer phenolic resin (water, burn, stain, and detergent resistant plastic) with inlaid pigment and silver accents.
Retains the Couroc manufacturer’s foil label and “GUMPS” signature.
Excellent, vintage condition with only a few, insignificant scuffs, as shown.
