Paul Mccobb Calvin Group Mahogany and Brass Double Dresser / Chest of Drawers
Paul Mccobb Calvin Group eight-drawer double dresser / lowboy cabinet manufactured by Directional Furniture (ca. early 1950s, USA).
Composed of a stained mahogany chest with brass tear-drop pulls supported by carved, tapered legs and brass ‘x’ stretchers. Mahogany grain has such vibrance that it appears to move as it is surveyed from different angles.
The top two drawers are shallow, while the other six are more spacious. The third drawer on the left side has two fixed (unremovable) inserts that would have been used in conjunction with dividers.
Excellent, restored condition with only minor wear remaining.
Metal manufacturer’s label to interior of one drawer ‘Calvin Grand Rapids/The Calvin Group Designed by Paul McCobb’ along with paper Directional tag present to the reverse.
