Pair of Italian Modern Walnut and Velvet Lounge Chairs Attributed to Paolo Buffa
Pair of sculptural lounge/arm chairs attributed to Paolo Buffa (Italy, ca. 1940s)
Composed of spindle-back-forms with elegantly curved arms above x-form slats, all supported by moderately angled feet.
Golden yellow velvet upholstery and foam are new; pair retains the original metal-spring construction.
Evidence of old restoration work present, as shown (minor veneer fills that were likely of the same period as production).
Newly and conservatively refinished; wear remains as shown (scuffs/spots/general, patina).
Sourced in Rome, Italy as Paolo Buffa; unmarked (hence the formal attribution).
Luxurious pair structurally sound with attractive patina that blends well with a variety of decorating styles – Deco, Modernist, Arts and Crafts, Country Farmhouse, etc.
