Mountable Hand-Carved Horse Head Trade Sign

This interesting hand-carved horse advertising piece was commissioned sometime in the mid-20th century for a New England dining establishment. However, and for reasons unknown to us, the business never opened and, as a result, this folk relic ended up in a collector’s hands for the last several decades. It is mountable and remains in great condition, as it was never used for the reason for which it was commissioned.

The mount dimensions are: 22″ W x 26″ H. The depth from the mounting board to the tip of the nose is 27.25″. The height from the mouth to the top of the ears is 25″. The length of the neck is: 12″. The listed overall dimensions account for the height and width of the mounting board and the depth of the horse’s face as a projection when mounted.
