Large Rosewood and Brass Extension Dining Table by Henning Kjærnulf for Sorø
Elegant, impressive Danish extension dining / conference table (model #62) in rosewood and brass designed in 1958 by Henning Kjærnulf for Sorø Stolefabrik. Complete, large-scale example featuring a drop-down tripod support base and all four additional leaves (the round table without leaves is 47″ in diameter, table can extend to 126″). Brass locking mechanisms secure only the table itself (no leaves), and when more than two leaves are added, the middle base automatically drops down to support the extra length / weight. The base is cradled between its own set of rails, so to manually drop or raise the base, the rails are simply slid forward or backward to release / suspend the extra base support.
Extremely well designed / manufactured table whose form is as impressive as its function. The table and all leaves have been carefully restored to revitalize the color and rich grain / texture of the rosewood. Only minor wear remains (light scratches / scuffs). Retains the Sorø / Danish control metal manufacturer’s medallion.
