Hans Wegner for Ry Mobler Teak Book Shelf
This free-standing bookshelf (model RY 8) was designed by Hans Wegner for Ry Mobler. The more ubiquitous early 1950s examples were made of oak; this lesser seen teak version boasting vivid grain and rich color was manufactured in 1959. Three of the four shelves (excluding the bottom tier) are adjustable, the middle shelf is stationary. Designed with a generous amount of holes in the sidewalls which house the shelves, this book case accommodates multiple shelf configurations. Other features include visible dowel joints and contrasting solid teak and oak bases. Manufacturer and Date Stamps present on the reverse Listed separately is another piece from this modular series of the shorter bookshelf with the cabinet base (model RY 100).
