Gio Ponti for BNL Walnut and Brass Writing Table / Desk

Iconic writing table designed in the 1940s by Gio Ponti for Schirolli to furnish BNL (Banca Nazionale del Lavoro) offices across Italy.
This early 1950s model was acquired directly from the Rome Bissolati BNL headquarters (Ponti also used this design for the University of Padua).
Composed of a walnut frame with laminate top, dual dovetailed drawers and brass pulls/sabots, all further supported by a lower stretcher.
Very fine, original condition with warm patina and natural wear from use (few surface and frame scuffs / one small spot of laminate loss along with tarnish to the unpolished brass, as shown).
We have a total of five of these desks, all obtained from Rome Bissolai BNL. Listing is for the single desk pictured.
There is a faded patch to one of the leg’s interiors where the BNL foil label once resided and has since fallen off.
Measures: H: 31.25″ x L: 55″ x D: 27.5″
Height from floor to apron: 25.75″
Drawer interior: H: 3″ x L: 21.25″ x D: 20″
Depth from lower bar to edge: 11.25″.
