Early 20th Century Folk Art Hand Carved and Painted Barn Whirligig / Birdhouse

American Folk Art whirligig / birdhouse, crafted to resemble a barn and silo, circa 1920s. Appealing colors and hand painted details. Alternating wooden ‘hammers’ move in an upward and downward motion by manually moving the windmill (presumably, a naturally occurring motion when outdoors, activated by the wind). Paint shows wear (crazing, loss in places and scratches). There are some corner chips, as well, as shown. Remains a functional, beautifully crafted piece of Folk Art.
