Diminutive Italian Modern Ceramic “King” Candle Holder by Giovannni De Simone
$300.00
Small hand-painted ceramic candle holder by Sicilian aristocrat turned artist, Giovanni De Simone. Unique, king figural form in De Simone’s signature vibrant colors of yellow, red, orange, brown and blue.
This piece’s aesthetic was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso (whom De Simone greatly admired). It is an amalgam of Italian folk art (simplicity, inaccuracy and crudeness of subject) with modernism in the use of color and shape.
Signed De Simone Made in Italy.
Very good, vintage condition with patina/light wear consistent with age.
Petite size – H: 3.25″ x L: 2.38″ x D: 2.38″
