Circa 1940s Folkart Woodsman / Lumberjack Whirligig
Whimsical whirligig depicting a woodsman sawing a log mounted to an ebony-stained wooden base. Hand-carved, painted, and assembled with applied facial details. When manually turned, the propeller activates the woodman’s ‘sawing’ motion. The green platform has a full 360 degree swiveling rotation capability.
All original paint and hardware. Fine, vintage condition showing wear commensurate with age and use (splits in in the propeller and woodsman’s platform with paint loss in places). Wear adds to the rustic charm of the piece, and, along with patina, serves as evidence of good age.
Measures 18.5” long, 21.5” high, and 13″ deep
