Abstract Oil and Gouache on Board by Elizabeth Nachman Erlanger
1960s oil and gouache on paper by Elizabeth Erlanger (1901-1975). Unframed, paper on gesso panel. Subdued, pale color palette composed of cream, gray, peach, and pink. Erlanger, a former student of Hans Hoffman and the former president of the American Society of Contemporary Artists, was an exceptional abstract expressionist painter. Select works included in collections of the Brandeis Museum, the Peabody, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (among others). The National Association of Women Artists awards a prize in her name.
