Pair of Large Gabriella Crespi “Fungo” Table Lamps in Brushed Brass and Acrylic

$72,000.00

Monumental pair of Gabriella Crespi “Fungo” table lamps in brushed brass and white acrylic (ca. 1970, Italy).
Among the larger examples Crespi designed composed of oversized brass and white acrylic dome shades atop brushed brass trumpet bases with dual sockets.
Large, impressive pieces in very good condition showing patina/light tarnish/subtle peeling to the unpolished brass lining the shade. Bases have been expertly refinished by the trusted metal workers at Empire Metal of New York and retain the seam line seen originally. There was a split in one of the acrylic shades that was previously repaired and is completely concealed by the caps on the exterior top and interior top. It is undetectable with the brass caps in place, does not affect stability/functionality, nor will it worsen over time. (Origins of repair are unknown, but based on the quality of said repair, quite possibly from the factory.) The second to last image shows a merged photo of said repair – the first image shows the interior without the cap covering the repair and the next three illustrate how the exterior top cap fully conceals this split.
The plugs are presently suitable for UK use and work with an adapter. Dimmer switch presently works with incandescent bulbs and only certain (dimmable) LED.
Retains incised signatures to the shade caps and bases.
From the collection of a prominent French collector whose residences across the world have been extensively photographed for numerous publications. The last photograph in the listing show the lamps in his New York City apartment.
(The large lacquered sofa tables by Crespi seen in the images are available separately.)
