Visually striking studio ceramic bowl in a lovely combination of blue, beige, tan, and burnt orange. Drip glaze (in places) and speckling technique add another layer of texture to this already unique piece.
Relatively large size: Diameter: 10.5″ x H: 5.25″ would make a nice fruit / salad bowl or for purely decorative use.
Illegibly signed and dated ’72’ to the underside of the bowl.

Studio ceramic charger by ceramicist, Deanna Nichols (b. 1942-2017, Missouri).
Holding a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute (1965) and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California (1967), Nichols was educated in painting and complex pottery making techniques at an academic level and later served as an educator at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, and The Chrysler Museum School in Norfolk, VA.
The second floor of the new student center at Kansas City Art Institute is named for Nichols (see image).
This studio piece from Nichols’ early, post-graduate era (late 1960s) features a brick red glaze over a graphite/gun-metal gray metallic base layer creating an attractive contrast of textures and colors.

This densely textured studio piece from Nichols’ early, post-graduate era (late 1960s) features an attractive palette of white, sky blue and green utilizing non-traditional pottery making techniques – cutting stencils and spraying negative and positive spaces with oxides on top of glazes to create botanical motifs. Charger doesn’t lie completely flat, as photographed, further enhancing the hand-made quality of the piece.

Vintage Surrealist Piero Fornasetti “Città di Carte” Polychrome Porcelain Dish

Piero Fornasetti “Città di Carte” (House of Cards) lithographically-decorated and hand-painted porcelain trinket/card deck dish depicting a house of cards against a landscape in a surrealist style (ca. 1955-1960, Milano, Italy).
Very good condition for its age with no losses to the central pattern; only light wear consistent with age/use.

Signed “Fornasetti Milano Made in Italy” along with Fornasetti’s pictogram.

Vintage Swedish Art Deco Dirigold Goldware Cocktail Shaker with Monogrammed “IK”

Luxurious urn-form cocktail shaker monogrammed “IK” by Dirigold (ca. 1930s, USA).
Dirigold was a gold-toned alloy created in 1914 by Carl Molin to appear like gold, without the downside of tarnishing. In 1935, the company was changed the name from ‘Dirigold’ to ‘Dirilyte,’ as to not mislead customers into thinking the alloy contained actual gold.
This vase is marked at the bottom with the 3 clover marks and ‘Dirigold’ brand, hence pre-date 1935.
A later Dirilyte cocktail shaker in the same gold-tone metal alloy was notably gifted to President Franklin Roosevelt in 1938 by longtime Democratic political figure and U.S. Attorney General, Homer Cummings.
Good, newly polished condition with light patina/spots/scuffs remaining.

Kalmar, still in existence today, no longer incorporates teak wood into their contemporary designs due it its cost. This example is from the 1970s and retains its label to the reverse.

Vintage Ten-Drawer Walnut and Brass Chest / Dresser by Baker

Elegant Baker chest of drawers / dresser in bookmatched black walnut veneer with recessed, hammered and etched brass drawer-pulls and a semi-finished back (ca. 1980,USA).
Ten-drawer configuration with six shallow drawers on top and four more sizable bottom drawers.
Exquisite wood grain with vertical ‘stripe’ detail.
Retains original factory stain (only conservative touch-ups executed – no repairs or extensive refinishing), while the brass has been left unpolished. Excellent, vintage condition sans light patina to the brass and some markings to the drawers’ interiors, which are not visible from the exterior.
Retains the model number in verso and the “Baker Furniture” medallion to the drawer’s interior.
