Vintage Primitive Yarn Winder / Yarn Swift

Circa 1940s silk winder from a textile mill with twelve spokes and a small strip of leather around the center shaft. Although, formerly used for industrial purposes, these yarn swifts made great primitive decorative objects. Additionally, given its starburst shape, it works well with even modernist decor.

Vintage Rattan and Wrought Iron Three-Tiered Basket Stand

Unique vintage storage stand composed of three cane-baskets in varying sizes mounted to a wrought iron stand. Handle is wrapped in a warm-hued rattan, and rattan ‘ties’ attach the baskets to the iron frame. Reminiscent of designs by Arthur Umanoff, Dorothy Schindele, and Mathieu Mategot, but the designer is unknown.

Vintage Red, Ochre and Slate Studio Ceramic Planter by Deanna Nichols

Studio pottery planter by ceramicist, Deanna Nichols (b. 1942-2017, Missouri).
Holding a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute (1965) and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California (1967), Nichols was educated in painting and complex pottery making techniques at an academic level and later served as an educator at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, and The Chrysler Museum School in Norfolk, VA.
The second floor of the new student center at Kansas City Art Institute is named for Nichols (see image).
Circa 1979 studio piece featuring a design reminiscent of the linear pattern and shape of certain sea shells. The rim decorated with incised sinuous lines protrudes out slightly from the vessel. Attractive deep crimson glaze with ochre and slate rim in both matte and contrasting metallic glazes.
Incised “Nichols” signature present to the reverse.

Vintage Replogle Glass Illuminated Library Globe

This 10″ glass illuminated library globe was manufactured ca. 1950-1952 by Replogle (Chicago, IL) and edited by cartographer, Gustav Brueckmann.
Israel, pre-divided Korea, and French Indo-China are all present.
Composed of paper gores over glass with a chromed-metal half-meridian and base. Primary color is an aqua green-blue.
Minor wear commensurate with age and use present (light, general wear, a spot of paper loss to the “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics,” and pitting to chrome base). Remains in very good, vintage condition. Newly rewired and ready to use.

Vintage Replogle Precision Globe with Rotating Zodiac Constellation Base

Replogle 12″ Precision Globe showing the relation of the Sun to the Earth, given the month of the year, and displaying day and nighttime periods.
Features a pasteboard globe with bodies of water in green and landmasses in red, yellow, taupe, and peach mounted to a painted aluminum base with blue metal insert detailing the seasons, zodiacs, constellations, and months.
Good, vintage condition showing paper losses/soiling/gouges throughout (particularly to the equatorial regions and a few land masses) and one dent (see Canada) to globe itself. Base shows some black paint losses and a small dent. By design, the globe isn’t attached to the frame at the top, despite a presence of a hole suggesting that there would be a bracket connecting the two. The lower axis supports the globe and rotation is controlled by manually spinning the blue disk (see video). Ca. 1952/1953 (Korea and Israel present; Libya Independent).

Vintage Restored English Leather Chesterfield Sofa

2-seat chesterfield sofa with button tufted detail, newly reupholstered in leather, circa 1970. Exceptional quality; no expense was spared in this full restoration including new foam, double hand-stitching, and applied brass nailhead trim details. The ebonized composite orb feet have been left original, showing wear from age / use. Leather will age beautifully, and the structure has been fully reinforced to endure decades of future wear without compromising the form or stability.

Vintage Richard Rothbard Zebrawood Puzzle Jewelry Box

Striking zebrawood puzzle jewelry box by Richard Rothbard (circa 1970s New Jersey, USA). The box is fairly unassuming upon first glance given its size and shape (resembles and measures about the size of a bar of soap – L: 5.25″ x H: 1.5″ x D: 3″). However, upon sliding out the corner piece and opening the top, many additional components and compartments are revealed. This piece is a marvel, ingeniously designed to be both practical and entertaining.
Excellent, vintage condition free of flaws. Retains the interior burgundy felt lining.
Artist signed to the underside.
