Pair of Mid-Century Modern Stained Mahogany and Brass Two-Drawer Nightstands
$3,600.00Stylish, practical nightstands/chests/besides/end tables in stained mahogany on rosewood plinth bases (ca. 1960s, USA).
Each nightstand features four brass pulls which open to reveal two, sizable, dovetailed drawers (two drawer pulls correspond to one drawer – there are two double drawers per chest).
The design, craftsmanship, and quality of materials are akin to woodworkers from the New Hope School, including George Nakashima.
Though the maker is unknown, each chest retains the retailer tag to the top drawer (Solesto Furniture Showrooms 227 Canal Street New York, NY).
Very good, refinished condition, though light wear remains (patina to polished brass, a gouge and scuff to one surface, and light, general wear).

Art Deco Red Painted Metal, Glass and Brass Torchiere Floor Lamp

Composed of a slender red painted metal stem supported by a round rose-hued brass base embellished with dual elm wood conical mounts divided by a glass orb. A second glass orb at the top serves as the collar for the patinated brass shade.
Good, vintage condition with spots of red paint loss to the stem and more considerable wear to the base (pitting/dents, etc.). Newly rewired.
Remains an elegant example from the Art Deco period whose designs employs a unique combination of materials and colors.
Linen shade is for demonstration, as it is neither original nor of the period.

Retains the signature dimmer ‘ball’ knobs.
Newly polished condition, though scuffs/dings remain, particularly to the bases, as shown.
Wiring is new, and lamps are dimmable.

Different versions of this design were executed – this example is one of the floor models including a cradle/holder with sleek tripod base supported by brass orb feet housing the shovel, brush, and poker/log turner.
Modernist design, visually striking and functional.
Very good, vintage condition with only minimal wear, as shown (light wear to iron elements and small, minor edge wear/light patina to brass fins). Brass has been newly polished.

Vintage Italian Modern Walnut Divan Sofa Bed Attributed to Paolo Buffa
$9,500.00Sculptural sofa/divan bed/sofa bed attributed to Paolo Buffa (Italy, ca. late 1940s/early 1950s).
Composed of a straight rail back connecting elegantly curved arms above x-form slats, all supported by moderately angled feet.
Arm rest shifts over creating 19.25″ of extra room to form a bed, and removing the seat cushion exposes a hidden ‘cubby’ with leather loop pulls comprising two storage sections for blankets/sheets.
Cushions retain the original metal-spring construction and upholstery (6″ high seat cushion is appropriately constructed like a mattress given its purpose, and back rests which double as pillows/head rests are equally dense/supportive).
Newly refinished; wear remains as shown (scuffs/general wear). Original upholstery shows only light wear.
Sourced in Rome, Italy as Paolo Buffa; unmarked (hence the formal attribution).
