Vintage Lilac and Pale Gray Studio Ceramic Planter with Plate by Deanna Nichols

Studio ceramic planter with drainage hole and plate/saucer by ceramicist, Deanna Nichols (b. 1942-2017, Missouri).
Holding a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute (1965) and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California (1967), Nichols was educated in painting and complex pottery making techniques at an academic level and later served as an educator at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, and The Chrysler Museum School in Norfolk, VA.
The second floor of the new student center at Kansas City Art Institute is named for Nichols (see image).
This piece dates to the early 1990s, based on the signature “D. Nichols,” which she used during that era and features a design reminiscent of the linear pattern and shape of certain sea shells. The rim decorated with incised sinuous lines protrudes out slightly from the vessel. Attractive pale gray color with lilac/periwinkle rim.

Vintage Lucite Free-Standing Mantle Clock

Artist signed Ca. 1970s lucite mantle / tabletop clock that can additionally be wall mounted. Modernist shape and pops of color to contrast the transparent lucite frame.
Battery operated and in functional, ready-to-use condition. There are a few scuffs to the lucite and one spot of paint unevenness to one of the hands (all minor – clock is in very good, vintage condition).

Ca. late 1940s / early 1950s English Pewter ship liquor decanter made exclusively for Lunt Silversmiths. Modernist form featuring a a graduated body, stepped ridge to the stem, and a flared rim topped with the original bulbous-form stopper. Good age present (patina along with a dimple to the stopper, as shown). Overall, very good, vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use.

Vintage Maple Media Console with Extendable Surface

Stylish, compact and highly functional media cabinet / console in walnut with ebonized accents and laminate top tier surface. The two drawers are divided into cubbies, and all but two cubby slats are removable (with one exception, all divisions within the drawers are fixed). There is an extendable surface and one ‘trick’ cubby in the bottom drawer – the wooden dividers and ‘floor’ are all removable for this section alone. Ideal for storing an important document or small item, as the hidden compartment under the removable wooden ‘floor’ isn’t large enough for anything substantial.
As this was previously used as a media console, there are holes cut out of the back for running cords.
Conservatively refinished condition with only minor wear remaining.

This piece dates to the early 1990s, based on the signature “D. Nichols,” which she used during that era and features a matte brown glaze with metallic charcoal/slate glaze rim with incised linear and lava drip decoration. A rare color and textural example from Nichols who favored matte earth-tones glazes. Additionally, this example includes a versatile plate which can serve as a supportive cradle for the planter or reversed for use as a stand.
