Large Mid-Century Black Resin Inlaid “Lighthouse” Tray by Couroc
Large, rectangular tray by Couroc of Monterey, California with an inlaid lighthouse scene (circa 1960s). Composed of a black lacquer phenolic resin (water, burn, stain, and detergent resistant plastic) with inlaid shell, stone, pigment and brass accents.
Retains the Couroc manufacturer’s foil label.
Excellent, vintage condition.

Large Mid-Century Black Resin Inlaid “Washington DC Street Scene” Cityscape Tray by Couroc for Garfinckel’s
Square tray by Couroc of Monterey, California custom-designed for Garfinckel’s Department Store in Washington DC (circa 1960s).
Composed of a black lacquer phenolic resin (water, burn, stain, and detergent-resistant plastic) with inlaid pigment and brass accents depicting two row-houses on a tree lined DC street.
Retains the Couroc designed for Garfinckel’s foil label.
Excellent, vintage condition with only light traces of use.

Planter by Kimball composed of a gray spun fiberglass vessel supported by a painted iron tripod base, circa 1950s. The paint is vintage, although unlikely original, and shows moderate patina / paint loss. The fiberglass is in good, vintage shape with a couple of nicks to the edge / slight interior discoloration.
Measures: Bullet vessel itself is height 12″, diameter 15.75″

Large Mid-Century Modern Glazed Terracotta Planter with Saucer by Deanna Nichols
$850.00Impressive ceramic planter/vase with corresponding saucer by ceramicist, Deanna Nichols (b. 1942-2017, Missouri).
Holding a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute (1965) and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University in California (1967), Nichols was educated in painting and complex pottery making techniques at an academic level and later served as an educator at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, and The Chrysler Museum School in Norfolk, VA.
The second floor of the new student center at Kansas City Art Institute is named for Nichols (see image).
1970s studio piece (works made between 1971-79 were stamped “Nichols Ferenbach”) composed of a terracotta vessel glazed in a gentle palette of tan/ochre/beige. The borders of both saucer and planter appear to adorned with bulbous beads, but those formations are in fact formed by sculpting and removing the bordering clay to reveal the unglazed terracotta within. A quality piece displaying attractive colors and geometric/textural elements.

Bell is quite large (as demonstrated in the image with the can for scale), and fin is proportionately long.
