Vintage Italian Modern Travertine Screw / Bolt Bookends by Fratelli Mannelli

$1,600.00

Italian Modern bookends in travertine produced by Fratelli Mannelli in Signa (Firenze), ca. 1970s.
Intriguing parts of a whole concept representing a screw or bolt with one bookend containing the head, the other the thread. When placed back to back, the entire bolt comes into view.
The natural porosity and organic veining of the Rapolano Travertine enhance the texture and depth of the sculptures.
Additionally, the warm ivory tones with localized gray areas of the L forms are contrasted by the red travertine employed for the bolt elements.
Very uncommon set – these are the only documented examples of the ‘bolt-form’ bookends.
Very good, vintage condition; what appears to be a small spot of edge loss is a naturally occurring flaw of the stone itself (see image).
Retains the Fratelli Mannelli Signa label.
