Danish Modern Open Front Bookcase in Teak Attr. to Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard

$2,600.00

Danish Modern teak bookcase attributed to architects, Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen for Søborg Møbelfabrik (ca. 1952, Denmark).
Thoughtfully designed and constructed with signature attributes including exposed finger/box joinery and beveled edges. Features a tight rectangular silhouette, structured with solid vertical dividers that balance weight and add functional versatility.
There are three compartments each with two adjustable/removable shelves (six in total) presently assembled in an asymmetrical configuration, though the abundant holes provided in each cubby allow for multiple arrangements.
Two notable differences between the documented ‘300’ series shelf and this example are the size (this piece is almost 10″ longer than 300) and the thickness of the box joints (identical joinery techniques, but these joints are slightly wider).
Otherwise, overall design, base style, shelf orientation/adjustability/removability are all the same.
Potentially an early design or a custom production.
Handsome, elegant piece that is additionally resourceful and highly functional offering multiple storage solutions while occupying a relatively small footprint with a depth of only 11.63″.
Excellent, newly refinished condition with only minor wear/blemishes present, as shown, mostly to the shelves (ring and general wear).
H: 39.25″ x L: 47.5” x D: 11.63”
Each compartment discounting the adjustable/removable shelves measures:
H: 30.25″ x L: 15″ x D: 10.88″
