Pair of hand-forged iron zoomorphic andirons/fire dogs (ca. 1930s/40s, France).
Abstract animal/dog/horse forms with slender uprights supported by dramatically arched bases, all attached to iron billet bars.
Due to the hand-made nature, there is a slight disparity between the two – one sits straight, one slightly angled back, as the bar supports are crudely formed and irregularly shaped.
In addition, there is heavy patina/wear to billet bars; otherwise, the pair is in good, vintage condition.
