Alvar Aalto for Artek Birch Card / Dining Table

This square dining table was designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek in the late 1940s. This example is the scarcely seen square model, which features the signature Aalto bent birch L-shaped legs, and can be used as a desk, dining or game table. It was used as an artist’s work station (originally owned by the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY) and shows wear from said use. The table is not marked.
