Hans Wegner for GETAMA Sofa

This four-seater sofa (model GE 236/4) was designed by Hans Wegner for GETAMA in the 1950s and is comprised of a solid oak slatted-back frame. The cushions, marked ‘Ryghynde’ are original to the piece and are a coral/peach wool. The GETAMA branding is present on the underside. Since its inception in 1899, GETAMA was known as a mattress manufacturer. Keeping with the trend even after the company evolved into furniture manufacturing, comfort continued to be at the forefront of their design. For example, within the cushions of this piece there are miniature box springs with the cushion support system comprised of linked metal strapping for maximum comfort and longevity (much like a well-made mattress).

Condition: Good vintage condition; light fading to fabric – no holes, tears, etc.
